Holiday Office Hours
Current Clients: As we move into the holiday season, I’ll be taking some time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the quieter winter days. I will be away December 16 to January 4, with the exception of December 29 and 30, when I’ll be available for a limited number of sessions.
I’ll return to my regular schedule, grounded and refreshed, on January 5. These dates are already reflected in the booking calendar, so please feel free to schedule whenever works best for you. If your preferred time isn’t available, you’re welcome to add yourself to the waitlist. I’ll notify you as soon as something opens up (first come, first served).
Prospective Clients: Thank you for your interest in working together. My practice is currently at capacity and I’m unable to accept new clients at this time. If you’d like to reach out or be notified when space opens, you’re welcome to email me at jen@jenniferbrumcounselling.com.
Warmly, Jen
Wishing you all a season of comfort, connection, and a little winter magic! ❄️✨🎄
Welcome to Jennifer Brum Counselling
Complementary 15-minute Consultation for New Clients
A 15-minute online consultation offers a valuable opportunity for both you and me to determine if we are a good fit before beginning therapy. During this brief session, you can share your concerns, ask questions about my approach, and get a sense of how I work as a therapist. It's a chance to ensure that my style aligns with your needs and goals, helping you feel more confident and comfortable in moving forward with counselling. This initial consultation helps lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship from the start.
In-Person Therapeutic Counselling
For many people, dedicating time to meet with a professional therapist in person within a comfortable, confidential, and uninterrupted space fosters a sense of security that encourages openness and allows them to engage in the therapeutic process fully. Our in-person counselling session provides a safe, supportive environment to explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences in-depth. My unique approach blends trauma-informed care, somatic experiencing, cognitive-behavioural techniques, and other evidence-based modalities, which allows us to address not only the psychological aspects of your challenges but also how they manifest in your body. By working holistically, we can uncover deep-rooted patterns, process difficult emotions, and develop tools to manage the challenges you are facing. The goal is to create lasting change by fostering emotional resilience and self-awareness at a pace that feels manageable for you. This integrated approach nurtures healing and empowers you to take meaningful steps toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Online Therapeutic Counselling
Clients choose online counselling for various reasons, including the convenience of accessing therapy from home and avoiding the need for travel. Its flexibility allows those who have busy schedules to integrate sessions seamlessly into their daily routines. Online counselling is particularly valuable for those in remote areas or with mobility challenges, as it enhances accessibility to care. It also ensures continuity of therapy while travelling or during illness. While some individuals prefer the separation of an in-person therapy environment from their home life, others find a virtual setting more comfortable and conducive to their needs.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity of past events, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity and resilience. Whether you’re dealing with PTSD, anxiety, or other stress-related challenges, EMDR can offer effective, lasting relief in a safe and supportive environment.
Although it is not mandatory, I suggest booking a 90-minute EMDR session for your first session, as there is much to cover before we can begin processing.
Gottman Method Couples Counselling
With the Gottman Method, we’ll start by exploring your relationship through structured assessments to highlight both strengths and areas for growth. Together, we’ll review the results and set meaningful goals that align specifically with your needs. From there, I’ll create a personalized “map” to guide us in strengthening communication, rebuilding trust, managing conflict, and deepening your connection. Along the way, we’ll focus on building healthy patterns that support lasting, loving relationships.
Family Counselling
Family relationships can be both meaningful and challenging. Whether it’s navigating conflict or helping family members work to better understand one another, I provide a safe and supportive space to strengthen communication, heal old wounds, and build healthier connections. Together, we’ll explore each person’s perspective and create new ways of relating that bring more understanding, trust, and ease into your family life.
